Katrine Balch Awarded NASA Silver Achievement Medal
Huntsville, Ala. — Seabrook Solutions Project Coordinator Katrine Balch has been named a recipient of the NASA Silver Achievement Medal, joining an elite group recognized for exceptional contributions.
Based at Marshall Space Flight Center, Balch supports NASA through Seabrook’s contract with Barrios Technology, coordinating large-scale annual reviews and complex projects across the Space Technology Mission Directorate.
“We have a portfolio of projects that I work with that range from solar sails, nuclear propulsion, to creating new components for engines,” said Balch. “It’s a wide variety of technologies and we’re trying to help advance them so we can use them in future missions.”
Known for her adaptability and attention to detail, Balch plays a critical role in navigating complex efforts and delivering results. NASA leadership recognized her impact, noting: “Ms. Balch’s sustained and tireless commitment to collaborative teamwork, continuous improvement, and excellence resulted in a showcase-level Annual Review recognized by STMD leadership and external stakeholders as a model of professionalism and effectiveness.”
Despite the honor, Balch credits the team behind the work.
“Everyone plays a part in it. Everyone is helping out. Everyone’s response to my deadlines helps make sure everything goes smoothly and gets me the information I need to do the next part of it. Even though it’s an individual award, it’s more like a big team,” said Balch.
Her recognition highlights the power of collaboration and the high standards Seabrook Solutions and Barrios bring to every mission.
